The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action in our area yesterday.

Just after twenty five to four yesterday afternoon, both lifeboats were launched to search for two people who were reported to be cut off by the tide below Huntcliff at Saltburn.

A search of the area was carried out but no one was found.

Members of the public are reminded to to check tide times before walking on the beach.

If you see someone in trouble you should call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard.

A man has been arrested after a young woman was allegedly dragged into a van in Middlesbrough.

The incident happened around 6.45pm on Sunday outside Boro Pizza on Middlesbrough's Linthorpe Road.

Following a verbal altercation, a woman in her twenties reported being dragged into a van by a man who was known to her.

A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident after the vehicle was stopped by officers from Cleveland Police on Park Road North.

He was taken into police custody.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers would like to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with footage to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.

Cleveland Police are once again supporting a national week-long campaign raising awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

The campaign will run until this coming Sunday the 28th August.

Whilst officers already look to educate and enforce the law against drink and drug drivers all year round, there will be a particular focus on these offences during the awareness raising week.

Throughout the first six months of this year, there were 428 people arrested on suspicion of drug driving and another 294 arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in Cleveland.

A further 37 people were arrested after failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
