Redcar's Town Deal has taken another step forward as two major projects have been granted planning permission yesterday.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council's Regulatory Committee approved plans for a new family attraction to be built, which will be known as the Culture and Leisure Anchor Attraction.

This will transform Redcar's High Street and Esplanade and create a new outdoor events space.

This means the former M&S building and Goodwins will be demolished this spring, and construction of the attraction will begin in the summer.

A man has been jailed for two years after pleading guilty to possession of an imitation firearm and criminal damage.

In October 2022, 25-year-old Carl Khan of Leven Street in Middlesbrough damaged glass on a front door on Carlow Street in the town after firing an imitation firearm several times.

He was sentenced to two years in prison at Teesside Crown Court yesterday.

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs after police witnessed a drug deal taking place.

Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Officers have arrested the 40 year old female on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs yesterday evening.

After liaising with Middlesbrough Council CCTV, a suspected drug deal was witnessed and officers located and arrested the female nearby on Ayresome Street.

Suspected heroin and crack cocaine were recovered and the woman was taken into police custody.
