Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with various alleged offences in our area.

On Sunday a pursuit of a car which was suspected stolen from Saltburn went into the Kirkleatham area.

After a brief foot pursuit - and with the assistance of the National Police Air Service - two teenage boys aged 17 and 19 were arrested nearby.

Both were interviewed and the 17-year-old - who cannot be named due to his age - was subsequently charged with burglary, theft, driving with no insurance, driving with no licence, dangerous driving and assault.

The 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, dangerous driving, driving with no licence and driving with no insurance.

He was interviewed and released on police bail with conditions while enquiries continue.

Officers found the plants in an insecure property on Borough Road on Thursday evening and contacted Northern Powergrid to ensure that the property was made safe.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Kirkleatham ward and West Dyke ward have been particularly affected, as well as nearby Dormanstown and Eston.

A range of vehicles including Fords, Vauxhalls, Audis and Land Rovers and Range Rovers have been targeted – predominantly during the hours of darkness from around 6pm and overnight.

Police say targeted extra patrols are taking place and a number of the vehicles stolen have been recovered, with suspects identified and arrested in several cases with enquiries on-going.
