Police are appealing for dashcam footage after an elderly man was injured as he crossed a road in Redcar.

At around ten to seven on Wednesday evening, the 74-year-old man was crossing at the junction between Queen Street and Turner Street in Redcar, near to O'Grady's public house, when a black Vauxhall Astra collided with him.

The man was taken to James Cook University Hospital with a fracture to his right ankle.

Anyone with dashcam footage, or private CCTV of the incident, or the moments prior to the collision, is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

Emergency services were called to the A174 in our area yesterday afternoon following a crash.

The incident, which took place around 5pm near Wilton Golf Course, involved a cement mixer and a car.

The North East Ambulance Service and Cleveland Police were in attendance at the scene.

A Cleveland Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed that one person was trapped in the car following the crash.

The fire service was called at 5.11pm and sent three appliances to the scene.

It asked drivers to avoid the area if possible while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are reminding the public that a busy car park in our area will be closed today.

The Majuba Road Car Park will be closed between until 6pm today due to a production company filming at the location.

No details of the filming have been released, however the council says that more information will be revealed soon.

The council have apologised for any inconvenience the closure may cause.
