Police had to close a main road in Redcar yesterday after reports of a building fire.

Just after 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, police closed West Dyke Road due to a property blaze.

Four fire engines from Coulby Newham, Grangetown, Redcar and Saltburn all attended the incident, and two breathing apparatus were used at the scene.

Passersby reported there was a "strong smell of smoke" at the scene and damage to the the upstairs of the property.

A Cleveland Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed all persons were accounted for, and they left the scene at around quarter to three.

The incident happened around 9pm on Tuesday on Albert Road in Middlesbrough. 

A knuckle duster, metal baton and tools were discovered in the vehicle as well as one male who was found in possession of class B drugs and cash.

Further address searches also led to the seizure of suspected class A and class C drugs. 

 

Police are appealing for information after a bike was stolen from outside a pub in Coulby Newham.

The incident occurred outside the Lingfield Farm pub at around 2.45pm on Monday 17th April.

It’s believed that four male youths, who were all dressed in black clothing, took the light grey full suspension Boardman NTR8.6 bike from outside the pub.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on the non-emergency number 101.
