Formal identification has yet to take place, police say that their thoughts are with the family of the deceased person at this very difficult time.

Enquiries into the circumstances of their death are on-going

Police are appealling for information after serious assault in Redcar at the weekend.

A 32-year-old man was near The Works on Redcar High Street at approximately 2am yesterday when he was attacked.

He suffered a serious head injury and was taken by ambulance to hospital where he remains as an inpatient.

The suspect is described as male, of slim build with short dark hair and wearing dark bottoms, a light-coloured jacket and dark trainers with a light sole.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact Redcar CID on the non-emergency number 101.

Tributes have been paid to former Redcar RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Dave Cammish, who has sadly died.

Dave spent 32 years as a volunteer crew member at Redcar Lifeboat Station, retiring in 2014.

Scarborough-born Dave enrolled as a crew member at Redcar in 1982 and served on the station's lifeboats until 1996.

He then became one of the RNLI's deputy launching authorities, responsible for liaising with the coastguards when the lifeboats are tasked to an incident.

In 2007, he became lifeboat operations manager at Redcar and served in that position until his retirement.

Mike Picknett, the current Lifeboat Operations Manager at Redcar RNLI, said that Dave was a highly respected member of the Redcar RNLI crew, and a perfect example of the dedication and commitment all RNLI crews need so that they can continue to help with saving lives at sea.
