A local supermarket had to close its doors on Saturday following an alleged incident.

Cleveland Police attended the scene at Tesco Express in Normanby at around 5pm.

A CSI van was parked outside the High Street store, with another van in the car park.

Residents reported that the closure was linked to an alleged theft, however this has yet to be confirmed by the authorities.

Eye witnesses have also said that the police helicopter was hovering in the skies around Eston on Saturday.

The store reopened yesterday morning.

A teenager has been charged in connection with alleged and actual knifepoint robberies in our area.

The 18-year-old male has been charged with attempted robbery and robbery.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in Guisborough on Sunday 13th August and Wednesday 16th.

He appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in custody until he appears at Teesside Crown Court in mid-September.

The volunteers of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action in our area.

Just before 3pm on Friday, both Redcar lifeboats were launched after reports were received that six people and a dog were cut off at Huntcliff.

The area was searched but no one was found.

Both boats were then able to return to the Redcar RNLI Lifeboat Station.
