The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team have been called into action twice in our area at the weekend.

Just after 4pm on Saturday, the team responded to reports of a woman who had sustained a lower leg injury whilst descending from Roseberry Topping.

A team land rover transported the woman to a nearby farm, with the Great North Air Ambulance then attending the scene to airlift her to hospital.

Then just before 5pm team members responded to a second incident involving a teenager who had injured his leg in a mountain bike accident in Errington Woods.

He was lifted onto a rescue stretcher and wrapped him inside a warm casualty bag before being carried approximately 700-metres before being transferred to a waiting ambulance for transport to hospital.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council say that once again they have not been able to collect green waste bins as planned over the past week.

The council is asking that affected residents present their bins for collection again on Tuesday.

The missed collections of affected residents will be caught up this week and the final green waste collections for the year will go ahead as planned.

The council says it would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and extended thanks to residents for their patience whilst they are working to get the green waste collections sorted.

Freemasons from Zetland Lodge in Guisborough have made donations to local organisations at their annual Charity Evening.

The event took place at the Freemasons Hall on Chaloner Street on Saturday, with 13 local charities and organisations being presented with cheques.
