Natwest has announced it is to close its branch on Redcar High Street.

The branch will close permanently on February 20th next year.

The bank claims it was used by only one personal customer on a regular basis in 2022.

It also said that counter transactions for personal customers decreased by 66 per cent from January 2019 to January 2023.

The closure means there will be no Natwest bank in Redcar and Cleveland after February 20th.

The closest branch will be on Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough.

Police closed a road through an industrial estate in Middlesbrough yesterday due to a serious collision.

Just after twenty past five yesterday afternoon Riverside Park Road was closed between the Ironmasters Road roundabout and the junction with Barton Road, following a serious collision.

Diversions were put in place and the road was closed for several hours.

The Great North Air Ambulance attended the scene, and one person was taken to hospital by road.

No further details as to their condition have been released.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in Middlesbrough.

On Tuesday, Proactive Team officers noticed a male acting suspiciously in the Clough Close area.

He was detained on Chipchase Road, where he resisted officers and bags of suspected cocaine fell onto the floor during a struggle.

The man was searched and a mobile phone was also recovered alongside the suspected drugs.

The 22-year-old man was arrested and taken to custody on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and later bailed whilst enquiries continue.

On Wednesday afternoon, officers proactively patrolling the area of Albert Park witnessed a suspected drug deal and quickly apprehended a 17-year-old male.

A search of the male recovered suspected cannabis and cocaine and he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

The man has now been bailed whilst enquiries continue.
