A major road in our area had to be closed yesterday afternoon following a crash.

The A171 was closed in both directions at around 4.30 yesterday afternoon following road traffic collision near to Freebrough Hill and Moorsholm on the North York Moors.

The incident caused long delays in the area, with traffic reportedly queueing from Freebrough Road to the Danby turn-off, and up to a mile of queuing traffic heading towards Guisborough.

The road was re-opened at about 5.15, further details of the accident or any injuries have not yet been released.

 

Two teenagers have appeared in court charged with multiple offences in the Redcar and Cleveland area.

Officers from Redcar and Cleveland CID charged two boys with multiple offences following a number of reported incidents in Marske and Redcar on Monday evening.

A 16-year-old male was charged with three attempted burglaries, three burglaries, possession of a bladed article, affray, racially aggravated public order offence and motor vehicle interference.

A 17-year-old male was charged with three attempted burglaries, three burglaries, affray and motor vehicle interference.

Both appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court yesterday.

 

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are advising residents not to use a key means of access to Redcar Beach.

The council is reminding residents and visitors that the slipway opposite Dundas Street, closest to the Redcar Beacon, is still closed to the public due to the damage it sustained from past storms.

The council says that the slipway will remain closed for safety reasons whilst they work on resolving the issue.
