A teenager and a 22-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of arson after two petrol bombs were launched at police vans.

The vehicles were parked in the back yard of a police compound on Kings Road in North Ormesby, and were targeted at around 9.30pm on Wednesday.

One vehicle was left severely damaged and out of use, while another was scorched.

No officers or staff were harmed during the incident.

The road was closed throughout the night while officers carried out investigations.

Two women have been arrested after a shooting at a house in a residential street in Middlesbrough.

A call was made to police just after 11.20pm on Wednesday night as a window was shattered on Crescent Street, at the junction of Laycock Street in the Newport area.

Cleveland Police taped off a large area of the street and launched an appeal to find the shooter.

Yesterday, detectives confirmed that two women, both aged in their 20s had been arrested in connection with the attack.

Police are appealing for information following a collision involving a BMW 120D and a Volkswagen Golf which resulted in one of the vehicles colliding with a tree.

The incident occurred on the A173 at Newton Under Roseberry on Wednesday 31st March at quarter past midday.

The 21 year old driver of the BMW suffered a fractured vertebrae and received treatment in hospital.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the vehicles prior to the collision or anyone with dash cam footage to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
