A new scheme is being launched in Grangetown this week to develop a stronger network of support for communities in the area.

The Early Help Zone, an initiative piloted last year in South Bank, is being launched at Grangetown Youth and Community Centre on Friday 12 June.

Organised by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, the Early Help Zone is designed to put in place a system of early help services, ensuring children, young people and the wider community are getting the right support and equal opportunities in every aspect of their life.

The event will also welcome residents to discuss regeneration plans for the area and to share their thoughts on what could make Grangetown a greater place to live.

Councillor Lynn Pallister, cabinet member for health and housing at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said: “We’re delighted this launch event is taking place to, not only recognise, but help build on the fantastic work the people of Grangetown do to promote the interests of residents in the area.

“The Council is working with a broad range of partners, especially schools, to put in place a holistic system to narrow the gap of health, education and social inequalities.”

A range of activities and entertainment will be held throughout the day including arts and crafts, knitting and storytelling. Performances from local schools will also take place by Saint Mary’s Primary School and Grangetown Primary School.

Free refreshments will be served throughout the event which takes place between 10am and 2pm, and lunch will be served from 12pm.
