Wearside League highflyers prepare for next test!

By Andrew McElvaney

A squad of 14 is expected to travel to Cumbria for Saturday's Shipowners Cup second Round tie which has been switched to Cleator Moor Celtic's home ground due to League rules, after being postponed 3 times at Redcar Athletic Green Lane ground due to the weather.

The hard fought local derby victory against Wolviston took it's toll on Redcar Athletic with Liam Wood who broke down in the pre-match warm-up, plus Kristian Kamara and Sam Webster suffering injuries in the game, which would have ruled out all 3 if last Saturday's fixture against Annfield Plain had gone ahead. Liam Wood will be out of for around 4 weeks whilst Kamara and Webster will be struggling to be fit in time to face Cleator Moor Celtic.

Mathew Dunford and Danny Wray should be available to return to the squad after missing the game against Wolviston, whilst Luke Woodall, Jordan Kirk and Liam Fox all seem likely to hold onto their spots after stepping up from the Reserves team.
